This blog is about books I've read, places I've traveled to, and writing. I write in journals, to op-ed pages, about issues, inspirations, friends, and family. I hope that you like to read and write about them, too! However, I don't expect you to, but would welcome your comments and postings. There is no cutting corners here. My aim is to open dialogue on reading, books, current events, etc.. and discuss, and debate them. Moreover, I aim to capture some of my thoughts and open them up for debate, discussion, and generally expose my thoughts to you.
This blog is structured to share excerpts of my reading, writing(s), and travels both foreign and domestic, and discuss current events prevalent at this time (circa 2007). Some of the content is paraphrased from books I've read, op-ed pieces I've written, and places I've traveled to throughout my lifetime.
I also offer brief descriptions on books I've read throughout my history. I've probably read some 200 to 300 books, a paltry amount considering the plethora of good books in the world, and like many of us I've allowed their teachings and pleasure to slip from my memory. In order to recapture some of what I've learned, I've vowed to regurgitate from memory and from past journaling, excerpts from the books I've read. In this manner, the excerpts can serve to remind me of the books I've read, and may be of some value to you, or perhaps my children some time in the future.
Moreover, I aim to share with you, moments in my travels; I've visitied fifteeen countries on five continents; in order to share what I know and have experienced, but also in the hopes that you will share with me your experiences.
The writing portion I refer to as a definition of this weblog appears throughout, as all my writing is original unless otherwise noted. In my writing, I aim to let my readers know a little bit about me, and what I've made of my life through my experiences in work, friendship, family, and endeavors.
Of course, a grander purpose in creating this weblog is to enhance communication; initiate conversation; capture thoughts; and perhaps generate a written dialogue I may not have otherwise developed.
Moreover, it is my belief that many of us like to be heard, but often are held back because something isn't politically correct, or maybe that's not the right thing to do, or perhaps we lack confidence in our positions. So, here in this blog, I want you to express your thoughts in a professional, thoughtful manner, and say what you need to say, and let's seek out some truth or not, but have some fun, and create an ongoing conversation. Now, of course, we're all busy, but you might find that your thoughts may have an impact, and in this way, may help to improve the life of someone you know (me) or may not know. So, give it a shot, I'll appreciate it, and I am sure others will, too!
Oh, about the name of the Blog "A word from The Rocket." The name came to me suddenly one day. I wanted a catchy phrase that might draw attention. The Rocket is a nickname I was given by a friend who claimed that I got things (business) done quickly for him. He said "you move as fast as a Rocket!"
